Trouble in Paradise

All is not well in the land of co habiting. My flatmates whose bad habits I have put up with for long enough are going through a rough patch. One of them is threatening to move out. I can't imagine what pushed her over the edge. Could it be the lack of functioning central heating, internet or the inability of anyone to tidy up after themselves? Anyone who thinks girls are the tidier sex hasn't seen our kitchen. I am tired of clearing up after grown adults.

I have a cough and sore throat. As a result I missed the Royal College of O& G talk on Thursday. My friends also insist on organising really cool parties or going to music concerts (Kano rescheduled) in the run-up to Paeds exams. I am also mid Sex and the city marathon-series 3 finished. All this must come to an end and I must attempt to chain my self to the library desk because I need the fear to spur me on.

ASDL where art thou?

Our internet remains out of action but the residency has finally come to an end. Laughable presentation yesterday afternoon, even the tutor didn't want to be there. I watched the TV series House for the first time last night perhaps it was Hugh Laurie winning a golden globe that inspired the interest. It is very good but it got me thinking about the increase in the publics' medical awareness. The advent of the internet and popularity of ER, CSI and other media-dramas are heavily responsible.

Friend's birthday dinner at Carluccio's on Friday. I had never been and the Italian food was very good with a rarity, overzealous waiting staff. Perhaps it was because our party was large. Later on we went to a posh bar. It's a musing trying to spot the women post plastic surgery and count the number of porsches/jaguars parked outside. Early to bed because I am a granny and going to hairdressers Saturday morning. Got a prank call on Saturday night. Tip for the few weirdo males out there, if you really find someone attractive be honest rather than acting like a freak who needs a restraining order against them.

We resumed paediatrics back at the main hospital. I await the pre-exam fear and freak-out. Elective planning is still in it's infancy despite my appointment for a Chest X-Ray and routine bleeding for antibody titres. My unease was not helped by a stern and pessimistic warning from several people in the year above who just returned from their travels. I have a sore-throat-dry- cough thing probably a gift from the wards or out patients.

Hello Again

I apologise for my brief absence. Our flat's internet connection is down again. In this period I have been going into university to use the computers, semi-ignored on my residency placement and reading paeds. Our residency firm look at us as if we are crazy, when we ask for patients to clerk on the ward or in accident and emergency. The situation has improved slightly probably due to us following them everywhere. As I watched the senior house officers in A& E I realised this would be me in 3 years time, overworked, stressed and with a morbid sense of humour. What have I done?

I saw Match Point in the cinema. I enjoyed it despite the unbelievable second half, Scarlett Johansson's overhyped role and the similarity to Talented Mr. Ripley. Dinner with flatmates at my favourite Thai restaurant in Earl's Court. Thai iced tea.. yum. The dessert was in essence pancake in green food colouring and as a self-confessed choc-a-holic I was not impressed.

The first showing of Memoirs of a Geisha was sold out so we returned for the later showing. Memoirs had great cinematography and a haunting soundtrack despite some cheesy lines. Perhaps I am a romantic at heart.

I have 3 presentations to do for paeds, plus random questions which don't contribute to our final exam grade. Oh the sense of it all. Friend's house party next week, this is a feeble attempt to create some sort of illusion that I am young and hip. As opposed to the woman who thinks TV has deteriorated into a pile of crap, school children are too noisy on the bus and goes to bed before 12 a.m. If anyone finds my life in their travels, please tell it I want it back.

Did I forget to mention my creative m vision 30gb? I love it, ipod who?
