Curse of the Golden Flower was an aesthetically pleasing disappointment. After months of anticipation on my part I was embarrassed by the film. It was an oriental soap opera lasting 2 hours. I love Hero, Crouching Tiger et al but Zhang Yimou lost his directorial flair this time. The action scenes were sparse with the emphasis on melodrama and time needlessly wasted near the start of the film.Other reviews.
It's that time of year again. The bright warm days, packed libraries with poor air conditioning and the looming threat of exams. The consensus of most of the revision courses is you don't have to be a neurosurgeon to pass finals, just perform slick clinical examinations. Easy? How many hips have most final years examined? Anyway it will be worth the effort when we graduate and become F1 doctors/ward clerk-phlebotomists. I tried skinny cow's mint and chocolate ice cream. The chocolate bits were alright but the other parts which made up the majority of the 500ml tub reminded me of something. I thought I was hallucinating so enlisted my flatmates to taste. Toothpaste.
