Weekend Madness

This is a true story. I spent five hours straight in breast clinic and got shat on by the registrar. I left clinic to check my emails only to discover paeds results had not been released despite the promises from the medical office. Then we had a late Friday afternoon tutorial to set the weekend underway. In the evening, I went to a friend’s birthday drinks at a bar in south London. The crowd was good and it was so much fun. We went on to a club in Tottenham Court Road, where the music left a lot to be desired. I tried to dance to break-beat, I did. I managed in my idiocy to lose my phone somewhere between the bar and the club. In the end we gave up the game and went home.

I felt so lost without my phone and my numbers, photos etc. I cancelled my SIM and rolled in at 5:30a.m. Most of Saturday was spent trying to get a replacement phone. They had some deal where I could have got money added to my bill for trading in my old phone-the irony of it. Seven hours from lost handset to replacement phone this afternoon. Orange has unrivalled customer service. On the way home, the shopkeeper tried to sell me out of date bread. This weekend has been interesting in terms of luck.
It’s the medical school party tonight and so I’m going to get some sleep before.

I was quite late because the tubes were messed up and I may have made a detour at Burger King. Oh it was classy, dressed up and carrying my brown Burger King paper bag. It was nice seeing everyone dressed up and the venue had character. Everyone was completely wasted on alcohol, people had difficulty standing. I was sober as I had three drinks the whole night. Cab home, bed. Sunday was a right off, slept, drank fluids, slept. Tried to do some work and slept.

Monday, clinic and careers fair in the evening. I love goodie bags. It’s part of the medic genetic make-up, a penchant for freebies.

I recently watched Christina Milian’s new video, ‘Say I’ feat. Young Jeezy. Is it me or does it remind anyone of Mary J. Bilge’s bridge in the ‘Real Love’ video. What happened to continuity? It’s been over a year since her last single off the album, ‘It’s about time’. Is this new song from a new album or from the old one? Who cares? I’m just rambling now. Most wanted albums are Corinne Bailey Rae, Ne-Yo and The GAME mixtape. Bar the GAME, I have been forced by the dilapidated state of r n b/hip hop to veer towards ‘chart n b’. Ok there is the Biggie duets album (anything produced by Puffy recently leaves me sceptical). He must spit a bar on every track he produces; maybe he’s confused and thinks he’s Jermaine Dupri. Why is Jay-Z releasing a collaborative album with Biggie? Commercialism has overtaken artistic integrity. Surely Biggie’s advisors must have some idea of who he would want to work with and how many albums a year he would release if he were still alive. The same goes for 2Pac. I think they should just release mixtapes with unreleased material and stop this.

I passed paediatrics finals. Huge sigh.
